University of Prishtina: Internal training's / workshops for the 13 faculties held on 6-9 June, 2016

Within the framework of the project “Increasing the Financial Autonomy and accountability at public Higher education institutions in Kosova” four internal workshops were held in the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, during 6th – 9th June, 2016. The trainings / workshops for the 13 faculties of the University of Prishtina, were divided into 4 groups as follows:
Training for the first group was held on 6th June, 2016, for the staff of the following faculties:

  1. Faculty of Philosophy
  2. Faculty of Philology
  3. Faculty of Sport Sciences
  4. Faculty of Education

Training for the second group was held on 7th June, 2016, for the staff of the following faculties:

  1. Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences;
  2. Faculty of Medicine;
  3. Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary

Training for the third group was held on 8th June, 2016, for the staff of the following faculties:

  1. Faculty of Engineering and Architecture;
  2. Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering;
  3. Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Training for the fourth group of faculties was held on 9th June, 2016, for the staff of the following faculties:

  1. Faculty of Law
  2. Faculty of Economics
  3. Faculty of Arts

An innovative element of the internal trainings organized in Prishtina is that the software for financial management has been installed for the three public universities. In this aspect the internal trainings/workshops were an opportunity to introduce the Manual for the use of “Management of Budget and Finances”.
During the four days of trainings, the following presentations were delivered:

  • Prof. Dr. Myrvete Badivuku, Vice – Rector for Budget and Finance - Objectives of the Management of UP on Financial Autonomy and Accountability for a period of 5 years
  • Prof. Dr. But Dedaj, Project Coordinator -  Financial autonomy and accountability of the Public Higher Education Institutions: Lessons learnt from the FAITH project
  • Prof. Dr. Isak Shabani, Head of IT Department of the UP -IT Systems for Financial Management – Modernization of the UP’s IT system of the financial management processes, supported via the project
  • Mr. Ilir Hajdaraj, Director of the Department of Budget and Finances of the UP - Resource allocation, internal governance and budgeting processes
  • Mrs. Luljeta Aliu, Project Manager, WUS Kosova - Fundraising
  • Ass. Vlora Prenaj, Faculty of Economics - University Place Management

Furthermore, the outcomes from the meeting were:

  • The new IT system for financial management will make possible to the staff to more effectively use the time during their working hours and contributing on unifying the templates and procedures related to financial management,
  • Decrease bureaucracy,
  • Increase transparency through instant access in different financial information,
  • Minimization of errors during different financial calculations,
  • Certification of the IT officers for the use of the new system,
  • The new system will also enable to eliminate irregularities, especially in the part of electronic student management.

Target group:  Vice Deans for Finance; staff of the IT Department; Staff of the Finance Department. 60 participants attended the trainings/workshops.
