In the framework of the project “Increasing the financial autonomy and accountability at public Higher education institutions in Kosova” the 5th workshop - University place management, was held at the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” in Kosovo, on September 8– 10, 2015.
The event started with a Consortium Meeting, where representatives from each partner institution of the FAITH project participated. In the Consortium Meeting, besides other topics, participants discussed the expected results during this workshop for the FAITH project.
The meeting started with the welcome speech which was given by the Rector of the University of Prizren – Mr. Rame Vataj. In addition, Mr. Thorsten Eder – FH Campus Wien continued the welcoming speech in the Planary Meeting. Mr. Eder disscused the objectives and expected outcomes of this workshop. Furthermore, he spoke about the agenda and the timeline of the expected activities during this event.
The workshop continued with a discussion on the New Higher Education Law. Participants gave their opinions on the matter of University Place management and Higher Education Law.
In the next session of the workshop a presentation was delivered by Mr. Jörg Hormann - Saarland University. Mr. Hermanns presentation was about the calculation of student capacities of study programs, respectively how the University of Saarland determines the maximum number of students within given resources. After the presentation, participants asked questions about the calculation process details and how would the Universities in Kosovo apply the same process.
In the end of the day, a Plenary Meeting was held. During this meeting participants were informed about the next day separation into two groups, and in particular what would each group work on.
In the second day of the meeting participants were separated into two groups:
-          Group A worked on the White Paper and was moderated by the FH Campus Wien.
-          Group B worked on University place management and was moderated by the University of Saarland.
Each of the groups worked individually in order to achieve the necessary results in the workshop.
The third day started with a presentation by the University of Alicante. In presentation, University of Alicante explained the process of how Spain calculates students’ capacities of study programs. After the presentation, participants continued the discussion on how they could apply this system into Kosovar’s universities.
In addition to this, in the next session of the day, representatives of University of Prishtina, University of Prizren and University of Peja delivered presentations on calculation of study placement in their University. All the three universities took a study program as an example and provided all the details of the study program, precisely, how many professors their University has, how many hours the professors work during the week. In the end of the exercise each university learned how to calculate the capacity for students for the chosen program.
During the third day of the workshop, a meeting with the IT and Finance departments of the University of Prishtina, University of Peja and University of Prizren and was held. During the meeting different technical issues with regard to planning the equipment purchase were discussed. Furthermore the meeting ended with a Consortium Meeting, where representatives from each partner institution of the FAITH project participated. In the Consortium Meeting, besides other topics, participants decided the next steps that will be taken for the FAITH project in the next 6 months.
